Estuary Monitoring

The Mattole Salmon Group (MSG) was formed in 1980 by local citizens as a response to the alarming decline of native Mattole River salmon. The founding members initiated groundbreaking restoration efforts to improve instream habitat and aid in the recovery of Chinook salmon, coho salmon, and steelhead.

Today, the MSG continues to conduct a series of Direct Enhancement, Salmonid Population Monitoring, Habitat Monitoring, Instream Habitat Enhancement, and Education and Outreach programs to meet its goal of achieving self-sustaining wild salmon runs.
